Whistler Youth Baseball Club is a merger of the Whistler division of Howe Sound Minor Ball and the Whistler T-Ball program.
Getting baseball routed in Whistler has been an ongoing effort led by many parents in the community over the years. In 2020, the idea to join forces with Howe Sound Minor Ball became a reality as COVID protocols were still in place and participation was limited. Organizers felt it could be an excellent opportunity to test the support of the community for baseball and begin the process of structuring a minor baseball program in Whistler.
Whistler rallied around the program and we quickly saw substantial growth in participation and coaching support. Despite the challenges of weather and length of season, the love and support for the game was evident in the community.
Whistler T-Ball was formed in 2023 as a separate program offering T-Ball to players aged 3-5 as this was not offered in the Minor Ball program. This program is essential for our young players, helping children and parents to learn the fundamentals of throwing and catching, setting them up with early knowledge, preparing them for future development and growth in the sport.
Season 2024 saw our greatest participation yet in baseball in the corridor. Whistler minor baseball alone was at 130 players and Squamish at 500. These registration numbers unfortunately presented a challenge for the summer competitive program. Associations with this many registrations are automatically expected to enter a AAA level competitive team for summer. With only a few months accessible for baseball, this expectation is too high for our athletes and the decision to start our own association was inevitable.

We expect to have numbers close to 200 athletes this year. All of us who are passionate about this sport and donate many hours of our time to its success cannot be more thrilled to see this program thrive and remain sustainable in our community.
